Influenza Clinic Schedule

The Cattaraugus County Health Department will begin Seasonal Influenza Clinics on September 14, 2009 at the Little Valley and the West Valley Department of Aging’s Nutrition Sites. Vaccine is available at these clinics for clients 18 years and older. These scheduled clinics will offer Pneumococcal Vaccine as well.

Seasonal Influenza Vaccine is prepared to prevent the annual circulating flu virus. It does not protect you from the Novel H1N1 virus. Seasonal Influenza Vaccine is recommended for all individuals six months and older and is especially important to protect anyone who is at risk from influenza disease due to long term health problems (heart ,lung, asthma, kidney, liver, metabolic, immune deficiency diseases as well as diabetes). Health Care Providers, household contacts, and caregivers of children from birth to five years as well as care givers of those 50 years and older are also of prime importance for vaccine. Pregnant women need to have Influenza Vaccine.

In essence, Influenza vaccine is an important preventative measure for all individuals over 6 months.

Your Health Care Provider is an important source of vaccine. Scheduled Cattaraugus County clinics are listed and more sites will be offered. Individuals cannot be severely ill or have a history of a reaction to the influenza vaccine.

Some insurance will cover vaccine and are accepted at clinic. Accepted insurances include:

  • Medicare and Railroad Medicare

  • Independent Health

  • Univera

  • Medicaid with Dr. Script

  • Most Blue Cross/Blue Shield – including Community Blue. There is no copay for BC/BS policies with the prefixes YJP, YJE, YJF, YJW and YJX

For others, the charge for vaccine is $15.00. Copays must be paid at the time of clinic
