Postponed: H1N1 POD in Machias
There may be a H1N1 Vaccination Point of Dispensing (POD) on November 6, 2009 (Friday) at the Machias Fire Department Bingo Hall, Route 16, Machias, NY from 9:00am to 12 Noon
All scheduled PODS (Points of Dispensing) are subject to H1N1 Vaccine availability. Meaning IF vaccine does not arrive, clinics may have to be re-scheduled.
This Point of Dispensing is for those in priority groups only!

Do you have H1N1 Vaccine? Yes, we have limited supplies of vaccine and are currently dispensing the vaccine to individuals that are in the 5 priority groups as defined by the CDC.
What are those priority groups? Pregnant women, household contacts and caregivers for children younger than 6 months of age, healthcare and emergency medical services personnel, anyone from 6 months through 24 years of age, persons aged 25 through 64 years who have health conditions such as chronic lung, heart, kidney, liver, blood, etc.

Suspected case of swine influenza A (H1N1) virus infection is a person with fever and cold-like symptoms with onset within 7 days of close contact with a person who is a confirmed case of swine influenza A (H1N1), or within 7 days of travel to a community either within the U.S. or internationally where there are one or more cases, or resides in a community where there are one or more confirmed cases

Allegany and Cattaraugus Counties’ Health Departments are working together to educate their county residents about swine flu. The New York State Department of Health has set up a 24 hour a day/ 7 days a week toll free hotline to answer questions from the public. This number is 1-800-808-1987.
